Three Super Little DIY Deodorants You Can Make at Home

Summer is almost upon us (I know, we say that every week, don’t we!) and the weather is definitely warming up. Ok, so we never seem to get anywhere near the temperature that we crave each year, but you have to admit that even the British summer time has the potential to get quite warm. And what happens when it’s warm? We sweat. Relax! We all do it. It’s how we deal with that sweat that matters. This week we’re looking at home made deodorants. Now, before you recoil- there really is no reason to fear DIY deodorants! If you’re serious about maintaining a natural makeup and beauty regime, this is something you must at least try. Here are three super little DIY deodorants you can make at home. Let us know what you think!

WE love love love the freshness of this deodorant! If you’re a fan of all things citrusy then this one is for you! All you need is:

  • Two teaspoons of dried sage
  • Two tablespoons AND two teaspoons of witch hazel
  • One tablespoon of fresh cleavers
  • One tablespoon of vodka
  • One teaspoon of benzoin tincture
  • Five drops of lemongrass
  • Five drops of tangerine

You also need a spray bottle. To make this wonderful deodorant you need a little patience, but it’s well worth the wait! You need to allow the sage to infuse in the witch hazel for two weeks, and at the same time the cleavers need to infuse in the vodka. When the two weeks are up, strain and press both combinations, then combine together. Then simply pop all the other ingredients into the mixture, pour into your spray bottle and shake well. Always shake before use. That’s it!

Creamy coconut deodorant

Yes, coconut oil again. But this stuff is amazing, with so many different uses! For this deodorant you need:

  • A quarter of a cup of coconut oil, melted
  •
Two tablespoons of cornflour
  • Two tablespoons of arrowroot powder
  • Optional: Essential oils of choice – tea tree or bergamot are good to use

To make the deodorant, combine the coconut oil, cornflour and arrowroot in a mixing bowl. Then add in a drop or two of your favorite essential oil- although you can make it without if you prefer. Next, pour the mixture into an empty deodorant container, or a small Mason jar and pop in the fridge for at least 15 minutes. That’s it! This one doesn’t need to be stored in the fridge (but you can if you prefer) and if you use a mason jar, you’ll need to chip out little pieces and rub into your armpit to use. But it’s worth it because this is a wonderfully moisturising and luxurious deodorant that your body is going to love you for!Three Super Little DIY Deodorants You Can Make at Home_LittleSoapCompany.co.uk

Smooth Shea Butter deodorant

Shea butter is wonderful for the skin and in a deodorant it’s simply divine! To make this one all you need is:

  • Three Tablespoons of coconut oil
  • Three tablespoons of bicarbonate of soda
  • Two tablespoons of shea butter
  • Two tablespoons of cornflour
  • Essential oils of your choice

To make this one, you need a double boiler (a glass bowl in a saucepan works fine) and a little tip here is to actually use a mason jar inside the pan instead of a glass bowl. This saves time so its a really great tip if you have a mason jar to hand. So, melt the coconut oil and shea butter then remove from the heat when done. Then add the cornflour and bicarbonate of soda, mixing well until everything is combined. Add your essential oils, and transfer to your container, if you didn’t use a mason jar to begin with. That’s it! Use as you would with the coconut oil deodorant, and store in the fridge to ensure it doesn’t melt.

Hands up who’s ready to feel fresh and smell great this summer?!
