DIY Coffee Scrub Recipe

With natural exfoliant properties, a coffee scrub can be a very beneficial step in your body-care routine. Coffee is rich in antioxidants, including phenols, the plant-based chemicals that are thought to ward off free radicals in the body. It’s also thought that the caffeine in coffee can help dilate blood vessels and reduce the appearance of skin dimples, according to Healthline. But there’s no need to scour the web for a pre-packaged version when everything you need is right in your kitchen cupboards.

What you’ll need:

60 g Fresh Ground Coffee
20 g Organic Raw Cane/Brown Sugar
20 g Melted Coconut Oil
1 teaspoon Vanilla Extract (optional)

Recipe:

Step 1 – Mix together the ground coffee and sugar. Make sure to use fine grounds, as the coarse kind can be a little harsh for sensitive or delicate skin.

Step 2 – Add the melted coconut oil into the coffee and sugar mixture. Also add your vanilla extract at this stage if you’re using it.

Step 3 – Mix, mix, mix.

Step 4 – Gently rub the mixture over your body – making sure to stay away from sensitive areas such as your eyes. Allow the mixture to sit on your body for a few minutes and then rinse thoroughly.

Step 5 – Store in an airtight jar. This scrub has a shelf life of around three months if stored correctly.

Tip: Be careful if you’re using the scrub in the shower, as the coconut oil can make the floor a bit slippery.
