Hello! We’re The Cheeky Panda, we’re striving to make the world a better, greener place. How do we do that, you ask? Well, it’s all here, in black and white, just like our favourite panda, Colin.
We’re your one-stop shop for making a simple, sustainable switch by making bamboo essentials that are not only good for you, but the planet too. From loo roll to naturally biodegradable baby wipes, nappies and straws, our eco-friendly range has little to no negative effect on our lovely planet, mainly because bamboo grows super-fast.
We work alongside World Land Trust to carbon balance the production and shipping of our products to ensure that our emissions remain neutral.
Where it all began…
Legend has it that our co-founders, Julie & Chris, took a trip to Asia in 2016. Here, they noticed that there was a huge surplus of bamboo that was simply going to waste.
Bamboo grows wild and vast on the Asian mountainside, and because it grows 30x faster than trees, it can quickly get out of hand. But rather than just throwing it away, Julie & Chris had a better idea – to use this excess bamboo as a more sustainable solution for making loo roll out of instead of trees.
Because why wouldn’t you think that when seeing a pile of bamboo?
Their mission…
Being plastic-free is a big part of our mission here at Cheeky Panda – whether we’re talking about our plastic-free range of products, our bamboo straws or our microplastic-free wipes, we’re passionate when it comes to reducing plastic. Since switching our 4s and 9s packs of toilet roll, we’ve saved 6.95 tons of plastic. That’s equivalent to around 46 GIANT PANDAS-worth of plastic. That’s a lot of plastic. We forged the fancy paper packaging you now see wrapped lovingly around our bamboo loo rolls to both reduce our plastic usage and to improve our sustainable credentials.
Our wipes also contain no microplastics – just natural bamboo – which means they naturally biodegrade over time, leaving no trace and having no negative effect on the environment.
We use bamboo because it grows much faster than trees, meaning our loo roll doesn’t contribute to deforestation.
Our work is important because the planet needs us more than ever. We’re confident that small changes can make a huge difference if everyone gets involved, which is why we talk about using a different toilet roll so much.
We also work a number of different charities we think are doing a world of good, most notably those who are a part of our Earth, Ocean & People initiative.
Earth, Ocean & People was set up by us to give support and raise money for charities that sit close to our hearts. These are World Land Trust (Earth), Whale and Dolphin Conservation (Ocean), and Toilet Twinning (People). We work closely with each of these charities and support them in their individual mission, but each of them have the collective goal of making the world a better, greener, happier place.
A small change can make a big difference!
The Cheeky Panda are on a mission to reduce the 27,000 trees chopped down every day for paper production. When you make the switch to sustainable bamboo home essentials, you’re helping to reduce the amount of trees used to make paper products each day. Why are we still using trees when there’s so much bamboo?! It’s quite baffling.
Not only that, but you’re also helping us protect the rainforest, reducing your single-use plastic intake and keeping our oceans clear of microplastics.
Our aim is to continue to provide eco-friendly essentials made from bamboo for homes around the world. We’re expanding rapidly into new countries constantly, spreading the good word of Cheeky Panda!
Basically, we want to take over the world. But not in an evil villain kind of way…
