Making soap

Nestled in the Upper High Street in the picturesque village of Broadway, our HQ is located in the heart of the Cotswolds and features a picturesque cottage workshop, which is where we craft our small-batch Artisan handmade products. We also run the Little Soap School in this same workshop space, offering a place for anyone to learn about artisanal soap-making and craft their very own vegan-friendly gifts to give. We believe that the best gifts should be personal and thoughtful, and what better way to treat someone than a luxurious handmade organic soap?

Emma’s vision to make natural soap accessible to all means that we have always trained others in sudsy know-how. We’ve had visitors from all over the country and even from overseas!

Our exclusive boutique courses cater for small numbers of students at a time on designated dates.

We help create the perfect learning environment for all of our students to ensure that they thoroughly enjoy learning the art of crafting natural soap and vegan-friendly gifts. Whichever option you decide on, you’ll be guaranteed plenty of attention from our knowledgeable trainers.

You’ll learn how to do what we do, but from your own kitchen. Once you have learned the art of crafting natural soap and organic cosmetic products, you can recreate these products anytime you wish! We’re incredibly proud that some former students have even gone on to set up their own handmade soap hobby business!

    What to Expect

The Little Workshop in Broadway can comfortably cater for up to four students at a time, though most students tend to come on their own for complete 1 to 1 tuition or bring a friend to bounce ideas off and share the cost of the day with…

Course dates & structure of the day

Little Soap School Workshops are run on set weekdays throughout the year. Your day is just that – YOURS – we don’t do group sessions unless you organise a friend or two or three to join you.

    Courses run from 10.30 – 4pm

There will be tea or coffee for you on arrival… we’ll start with a chat around the Little kitchen table about the day ahead and what you want from the day. We will go through the theory part (but not too much – we are hands-on and we will be itching to get in the workshop a few steps away – as we are sure you will be too!). We will explore and go through all the raw ingredients that can be used to make soap, then a more tactile touch, feel, and smell of the delicious oils and butters as we talk you through and make a batch of our Artisan soap: stockpots, measuring tubes, thermometers the lot – you’ll see our secrets before your eyes! Relax and watch as we go through the process. You will have an hour off to wander up the High Street for lunch. There are so many wonderful eateries ranging from tearooms, cafes, the deli, and Number 32, posh fish and chips, to several English pubs  (the Visit Broadway website shows them all). Then it’s back to the workshop where the afternoon is yours to make and make and make batches to your heart’s delight….!  We will then finish with tea and a chocolate brownie from another award-winning local company! The Cotswold Larder, before you head home with all your own-made goodies!
