Three Little Tips for Grooming Your Dog

Here at Little Soap HQ we’re passionate about taking care of what we put inside our bodies, just as much as we care about what we put onto our skin too. When it comes to our furry companions, that passion and dedication for wholesome, natural ingredients continues. Our Little Beast range has been designed with your pets in mind; we want to help you create a holistic approach to natural living and we want you to foster a love for it too. That’s why we created a range of dog grooming products that you can trust and why we’re so delighted to be partnering with the amazing Guide Dogs throughout the month of October. In honour of this cherished partnership here are our top three little tips for grooming your dog. Enjoy! (and we hope your dog does too!)

A little about the Little Beast Range

The Little Beast range mirrors our ‘human’ range in that all ingredients are organic, made with all natural products and fragranced only with pure essential oils- no synthetic fragrances are used in our products. Because the ingredients are natural, they’re kind to your skin too, and are safe to use alongside regular flea/ tick preventative methods and all other medicines.

The key ingredients we use are English Lavender Oil, known for its calming effects; Apricot Oil, providing nourishment and moisture; Ground coffee granules (in the Little Beast bar), to naturally project against fleas and ticks.

For the month of October, Little Soap Company will donate 10% of profits from any product in the Little Beast range to the Guide Dogs. Check out this video for Umber’s story and to find out more about how the range came about. Three Little Tips for Grooming Your Dog_Little SoapCompany.co.uk

Grooming your dog

Grooming your dog is a wonderful way to form a bond and an essential part of animal care. Done well, it can be one of the most cherished parts of your relationship with your dog. Remember that your dog’s breed will dictate the individual needs of grooming, so always speak to your vet to make sure you follow the required schedule for your pet.

Get prepared

Having a dog doesn’t just mean taking it for walks and buying food. There are so many other things to consider and many items you need on your shopping list! Grooming tools are essential and its a great idea to have these prepared before you start – if you have everything to hand you will find the whole task a lot easier! Believe me, some dogs will find bath time more a game than anything else and the last thing you want is to be chasing a wet dog around the house! Incidentally, the Little Beast bars are great for dogs who like to wriggle and run when it comes to wash time, because they’re so easy to just grab and apply, and no bottles to knock over and loose half the contents!

Always be hands on

As already mentioned, grooming your dog can be a wonderful way to strengthen the bond between you both, so be hands on and let your dog know how much you love the task at hand. Always apply shampoo with your hands and not directly onto the fur. Not only does this give you a chance to gently and lovingly wash your dog, but it helps to spread it evenly across the fur too. This way you can also make sure that you cover the areas you know need a bit of extra attention! Gently squeeze your dogs ears shut to prevent water getting inside; this can cause irritation or infection so always take care.

Having the right equipment is essential if you want to groom your dog properly. Everything in the Little Beast range is organic and natural, because we believe that not only should all humans have access to pure ingredients for their skin, but dogs should too! Shampoo is an essential tool when it comes to grooming; we believe only the best will do!

Liquid shampoo

This can be use all over your dog, avoiding the eyes, and on all coat types. You can also use it to just rinse muddy paws or the odd dirty patch if you need to. It’s highly concentrated so you only need a small amount, which means each bottle will last longer too! Liquid shampoo is so easy to use and can be easily applied to the hands before you start to massage into your dog’s fur.

Shampoo bar

Our Little Beast shampoo bar contains calming Lavender Essential Oil, Apricot Oil to moisturise and ground coffee beans to naturally repeal fleas. Shampoo bars are great for when you’re travelling and at home too – less packaging means less waste and bars of course last that little bit longer too.

The Little Beast Bar was rated 10/10 by Dogs Monthly Magazine and as with the liquid shampoo it can be used all over (avoiding the eyes) on all coat types or use just to use to rinse muddy paws or dirty patches.

Little Beast Pet Spritz

This is a wonderful spritz that can be used in between washes directly onto your dog’s fur, or on their bedding to just freshen up a little. It contains calming Lavender Essential Oil and luxuriously moisturising Apricot Kernel Oil to condition and hydrate.
