Change your diet

If your face is dry, itchy and sore, it can make you feel pretty miserable. Dry skin can be difficult to deal with, but if you start with your diet, you can make real changes to your complexion. The following foods are fabulous for restoring moisture into your skin:

  • Walnuts
  • Olive oil
  • Pumpkin seeds
  • Chia seeds
  • Cantaloupe melon
  • Watermelon
  • Strawberry
  • Avocado
  • Kale Coconut oil

And your skin will benefit from dietary changes in other ways too. Introduce blueberries for an anti-inflammatory boost for skin that is suffering from break outs or soreness; eat salmon to help maintain  healthy skin cells; indulge in fresh raspberries to repair and refresh damaged skin cells, and stock up on cucumber to help maintain your clear complexion.

Avoid greasy, processed food and eat clean wherever you can. Your skin will thank you for it!

Treat eczema with natural ingredients

Eczema can be difficult to manage, as there are so many different chemicals in the things we come into contact with every day- from washing powders to soaps. There are many natural remedies you can try to alleviate symptoms of this skin condition, and one that we particularly love can be made easily at home. To make the super cream, you need:

  • Half a cup of pure Shea Butter
  • Half a cup of pure coconut oil
  • 1 tablespoon raw organic honey
  • 40 drops lavender essential oil
  • 5-10 drops tea tree essential oil

Use a double boiler to melt the she butter and coconut oil until they’re combined. Add the honey and allow to melt. When everything is liquid, add the essential oils and stir. As the mixture cools, it will harden and is ready to use. Store in an airtight container and apply to skin as and when necessary.

The ingredients in this cream are wonderful for soothing sore, inflamed skin and the shea butter combined with coconut oil will give your skin a wonderful moisture boost too. Enjoy!

Treat acne with natural ingredients

Acne is one of those skin complaints that can really affect your self confidence and knock you sideways if you suffer from it. If you do suffer, try using apple cider vinegar to treat it. The natural healing properties of the vinegar kill off the bacteria that cause acne, and help to balance the pH of your skin, which is turn makes it harder for bacteria to return and thrive. It is also an astringent, which means that it works by drying up excess oil in your skin. It’s important not to apply too much too often, but when used in moderation apple cider vinegar can prove to be highly beneficial.

To use, simply wash your face as normal and pat it dry. Mix up one part apple cider vinegar to three parts of fresh, clean water. Use a cotton wool ball to apply gentle pressure to the blemish and leave on for ten minutes at least. For an added boost, you can leave on overnight. Reapply several times a day, and always wash your face thoroughly afterwards. And don’t forget a really good moisturiser too, because you don’t want the vinegar to totally dry your skin out.
