Why We Launched the Naturals Collection
Originally commissioned by Asda, the Naturals collection was created as a more affordable option for those wanting a good quality bar soap. And just like the very first bar created back in the day at the kitchen table, we wanted each bar in this collection to be 100% free from harsh chemicals and synthetic ingredients too - no compromises.
The thing is, we already knew that most ‘natural’ bars on the shelves were anything but when you actually read the ingredients label - and we wanted to change that. We wanted to live up to the claim, and to bring you natural soap bars that really are natural - not to mention kind to skin, planet and pocket.
That’s why we created the Naturals collection, and why each and every bar soap in the range is formulated with the utmost care, ensuring it’s truly natural and sustainable - from ingredients to packaging. The Naturals range reflects out core values or purity, simplicity and transparency, and we’re proud to say it’s now a staple for many bathroom cabinets across the country!
What makes a bar soap natural?
According to The National Ingredient Resource Centre (NIRC), a product is “all-natural,” if it contains at least 95% of ingredients that fits their criteria for natural ingredients. The other 5% may come from ingredients that do not meet their criteria for natural, but do not contain synthetic fragrances, artificial colours, or harmful fillers.
Here at Little Soap we always use naturally derived ingredients, where possible. That said, sometimes it’s necessary to use a non-toxic synthetic ingredient(s) when no equivalent can be found in nature. Why do we do this? Well, as much as the idea of using 100% all-natural products may seem appealing, it’s not always practical - and doesn't necessarily mean they’re safe either. In fact, failure to include effective preservatives in a product can lead to health problems, such as skin infections.
This means that it's often necessary to use some type of synthetic non-toxic preservative(s) to ensure the products we create are safe to use.
So what makes our Naturals collection truly stand out?
Our Naturals collection is 99.9% natural. We still only fragrance with a blend of pure essential oils - no synthetics whatsoever. And we keep our price down with this collection too, using oils that aren’t certified organic (but still top quality, as you would expect!) which helps to keep this range affordable.
And like all of our other products, the Naturals collection is cruelty-free, vegan, and manufactured right here in the UK.
