Today is International Animal Rights Day, so we wanted to take some time to tell you a little more about our relationship with Cruelty Free International. Read on to find out more about our work with them and why it is so important to us as a brand and as individuals.
What is International Animal Rights Day?
And why does it matter so much? Regular readers and customers will already know how passionate we are about animal rights- and it will come as no surprise that International Animal Rights Day is an event firmly marked out on our calendars! International Animal Rights Day is a recognised day for campaigners to come together to highlight the plight of millions of animals around the world, and to recruit more to the cause. The aim is to advocate for kindness and respect to animals. To remind the world that all sentient beings deserve to be treated this way and that animal rights are important to us all. It’s a day to recognise the Universal Declaration of Animal Rights.Who are Cruelty Free International?
Cruelty Free International are the leading organisation working tirelessly to end animal cruelty and to stop animal experiments across the world. The organisation works to investigate and expose laboratories that take part in the cruelest of experiments at the expense of animals, and champions better science that advocates for a cruelty-free practise. Brands and businesses that host the Leaping Bunny logo are those that have been approved as officially Cruelty Free- meaning that they do not in any way support cruelty to animals and that they instead go to great lengths to support and carry out cruelty free practises.
“It’s the best assurance that a company has made a genuine commitment to help end ending animal testing. Brands must meet rigorous criteria which apply globally and extend over and above laws governing animal testing and include ongoing independent audits. Only then can they display the Leaping Bunny logo.” (Cruelty Free International, 2020)
