Eat it
The most obvious. Not only is the avocado delicious to eat, but they are packed with essential and healthy fats and oils that your body needs. Mash an avocado and use in place of butter when you make sandwiches, add half to your smoothie now and then, or simply chop up in a salad. You can even use it in place of butter to make cookies! However you eat it, this super food is going to work for you. Here's a simple recipe for avocado butter, and some ways that you can serve it. All you need is:
- 1 avocado
- 1 clove of garlic, crushed
- 1 teaspoon lemon juice
- 1 teaspoon olive oil
- pinch of sea salt
- Under the eyes: crush half an avocado and apply to the area under your eyes using a gentle patting motion. Leave for a few moments then rinse with warm water and pat dry. Alternatively you can slice it and use in place of cucumber to help reduce puffiness.
- On the skin: Mix half an avocado with a few tablespoons of oatmeal and use as an all natural exfoliator. Rub in circular motions, leave for a few moments then rinse. Pat dry and follow with a good moisturiser (we love coconut oil).
- Make a face mask: avocado is wonderful for face masks because it provides a moisturising boost for your skin. Mix one quarter of an avocado with 1 tablespoon of honey, 1 teaspoon of olive oil and the juice from one slice of lemon. Mix to a paste then apply to the face. Leave for ten minutes, then rinse with warm water. Pat dry and follow with a good moisturiser. Bliss!
- To repair: You need 1 egg, 1 avocado, 3 tablespoons olive oil, 1 tablespoon honey. Mix all ingredients to a smooth paste. Massage into the hair and leave for 15 minutes. Rinse with warm water then wash as normal. This is a super combination for tackling split ends.
- For dry, dull hair: Mix half an avocado with 3 tablespoons of natural yoghurt. Apply to the hair and leave for 15 minutes. Rinse well and wash as normal. Voila!
- To revitalise and nourish: Mix an avocado with a quarter of a cup of milk and 1 tablespoon of olive oil. Blend to a smooth paste and cover your hair from root to tips. Leave for 15 minutes, rinse then wash as normal.
- For shiny hair: Mix half an avocado with one ripe banana, 1 teaspoon olive oil and 1 teaspoon lemon juice. Mix to a paste and apply to hair from root to tips. Leave for 15-30 minutes, rinse well then wash as normal.
