We love a good old salt scrub to re-invigorate and rejuvenate at the end of a busy day. Who doesn’t? And even better the scrubs that you can whip up at home, using all natural ingredients. So without further ado, here are three little all natural scrubs you can make right now. Go go go!
Before we start, perhaps we ought to talk about the importance of exfoliating. Yes, it really is important. Honestly. Every time you exfoliate, your skin thanks you. The top layer of your skin gets replaced every two weeks, which means that there are literally millions of skin cells left over. Yuk. Most of them will fall off, but some will stay put, piling on top of each other until your pores are clogged and your skin is suffering. Nobody wants that, right?
So do something about it! You need those pores in full working condition so that they can rid your body of toxins and they can’t do that if they’re blocked. Hello spots! Exfoliating means that you’re effectively removing that later of skin on the surface so that it can breathe a little. This helps the renewal process and means that those pores are able to continue working hard to give you a bright and healthy complexion. Convinced? We hope so!
Make your own
Some manufactured exfoliators contain nasties that are not only bad for your skin, but harmful to the environment too. So make your own! Here are three easy scrubs you can make right now.
Sugar is well known for its ability to exfoliate and this recipe is so easy to make too. All you need is:
- Half a cup of organic brown sugar
- Half a cup of organic coconut oil
- One third of a cup of organic pineapple juice
Mix all the ingredients together and massage gently onto your skin. Rinse well with cool water and finish with a good moisturiser. Warning: this will smell good enough to eat!
Banana and honey
Another one that sounds totally delicious, and your skin is going to have a right old feast when you apply this one! All you need is:
- One organic banana
- Five drops of lemon juice
- Two teaspoons organic honey
Mix all the ingredients together and apply to your face gently. This one can be left on the skin for up to 20 minutes, so sit back and relax. Rinse off with cool water and apply a good moisturiser.
Cinnamon and ginger
This one is great for all over body exfoliation, and we love the combination of spices. All you need is
- One cup of sea salt
- Half a teaspoon of ground ginger
- Half a table spoon of ground cinnamon
- One cup of olive or almond oil
Mix all the ingredients together and apply to the skin, massaging in slow circles. You can also add some essential oil here if you like, but it’s not vital. The sea salt is going to be the real powerhouse in this one, because it’s so rich in minerals that lift dead skin cells clean away. We promise you will feel great after this one!
