Stop using aerosol and plastic roll-on deodorants and try these little tricks instead

There’s a bit of a nasty smell when it comes to deodorants. Ironic? We know.

Did you know that each year in the UK, we use around 600 million aerosols?! Although not all of these are deodorants, with 79% of the UK having bought deodorant as part of their weekly shop, it’s likely that a lot of these are – and that’s before we even think about those plastic-packed roll-ons that have no recycling possibility. It’s time to stop using these deodorants and try these tricks instead.

There are now lots of different zero waste deodorant alternatives, but as is often the case, it’s all about finding the product that works best for you. Here are some of our faves:

Indigenous Beauty

Made with the finest natural and organic ingredients, this natural deodorant cream leaves your underarms ready to say fresh for the day ahead. A 60ml jar will last you approximately three months with daily use.

Earth Conscious

Made with 100% natural ingredients, no parabens and with biodegradable or recyclable packaging, Earth Conscious donates 10p from the sale of each deodorant to the Marine Conservation Society, to help protect seas, shores and wildlife here in the UK.

Wild Refill

Made from anodised aluminum and recycled plastic, Wild refill deodorants are designed to last! Not only that, but their refills are completely plastic free and are slim enough to fit through the letter box.

If you don’t have access to these, here’s another recipe for you to try out yourself:

  • 2 tbsp of shea butter
  • 2 tbsp of cornflour
  • 1 tbsp of baking soda
  • 7 drops of tea tree essential oil
  • 7 drops of lavender essential oil

Method: Melt the butter. Once melted add the cornflour and baking soda. Stir and add your oils. Place in a airtight container, chill and you’re good to go!
