Five Little Tips to Shop Cruelty Free

Here at Little Soap HQ we’re fiercely proud of our to be a cruelty free company. All our cosmetic products under our own brand are certified as not tested on animals under the Cruelty Free International Leaping Bunny programme, the international gold standard for products that are free from animal testing. We believe that it’s easier than ever to shop cruelty free if you really want to, so this week we’re sharing our top tips on doing just that. Here are five ways that you can shop cruelty free for life.

Look for the Leaping Bunny

You’ll notice the leaping bunny logo on our site and on our products too. This symbol is so important, and one that you should look for Five Little Tips to Shop Cruelty Free_LittleSoapCompany.co.ukevery time you shop. It’s the “only globally recognised guarantee that a brand has made a commitment to ending animal testing for their products” (Cruelty Free International)

What the leaping bunny means for us is that we know our customers can have faith in our products, and as consumers we can easily identify the brands we want to buy too. You can use the online search facility to find other brands that are Cruelty Free certified here and you can check specific brand names too.

Use specific key words when searching online

If you’re anything like us, you’ll love a bit of online shopping, and if this is the case you can still shop cruelty free. Using specific key words to search for products that match your own personal ethics is a must. Words such as ‘cruelty free’, ‘vegan’ and ‘faux’ are all really good search terms to use.

Keep a list of brands and websites that you like

It can be a simple list in your favourite notebook, or you can go the whole hog and create your own spreadsheet! However you do it, keeping an up to date list of brands and websites that adhere to your standards is a really good idea, and helps when it comes to gift lists at Christmas too. It always helps to have a collection of go-to retailers that you can rely on for cruelty free products- just make sure Little Soap Company are in there!

Read your labels!

Just as we advise when it comes to green beauty and clean eating, reading the labels on everything you buy is so important if you want to truly shop cruelty free.

Start an audit

Five Little Tips to Shop Cruelty Free_LittleSoapCompany.co.ukMaking changes can be a slow process, but often the smaller steps we take will lead to bigger steps, and bigger changes. Starting small is no bad thing, and beginning the process with an audit in the home is a great way to start. Move from room to room and decide which items you can replace easily with cruelty free items. The bathroom is a great place to start- and obviously you can buy most of what you need right here!

Moving on to the kitchen, there are plenty of cruelty free cleaning products and foods that you can add to your grocery list each week. Perhaps the most difficult (or costly) changes to make will be clothing and furniture, but don’t let that put you off. This post has some really great tips on how to slowly but surely replace old items with new, cruelty free products you can be proud of.

Before we go, we wanted to just let you know how seriously we take our certification as a cruelty free brand. We’re proud to adhere to a fixed cut-off date policy and proactively monitor our suppliers to ensure that our products continue to adhere to the Leaping Bunny criteria.
