We’ve written before about green cleaning, and it’s something that we feel passionately about. if you’re going to care about what you put inside your body, and onto your body, then it makes sense to care about what you use in your home too. And natural, or ‘green’ cleaning products aren’t just better for the environement-they’re better for you too.  Read this post for a reminder of why chemical laden products such as air fresheners might be messing with your health. You need a well stocked cleaning cupboard before you start, and the good news is you’re likely to have many of the essentials around the house already. To make your own cleaning products you need:

  • Bicarbonate of Soda

  • Lemons
  • Newspaper
  • Water
  • Apple Cider Vinegar

We’re huge fans of DIY remedies! Regular readers will know that we like to share our favourite methods for cleaning our bodies and our minds, and our homes too. So without further ado, here are top five cleaning products that you can make now!

All natural toilet cleaner

All you need is bicarbonate of soda and a toilet brush. Thats it. Really! Sprinkle some onto the brush and scrub away. No nasty chemicals and no need to worry.

All natural air freshener

Essential oils are amazing natural air fresheners- get rid of those nasty plug ins now!! Sprinkle a few drops of your favourite essential oil onto a cotton wool ball and pop it in the corner of your room. That’s it. Keep it away from the kids, of course, and experiment with different oils too. Lavender is great for creating a calm atmosphere and peppermint will help you to stay on top of your chores, wide awake and ready to go!

All natural floor cleaner

White vinegar is great for cleaning floors and when you mix it with hot water and a few drops of either peppermint to lemon oil you’ve got yourself a powerful and great smelling floor cleaner. And don’t worry- you won’t smell the vinegar after the floors are dry!

All natural tile cleaner

All you need is 2 parts vinegar and four parts water. Apply the mixture with a spone, rub well and wipe away. Hello sparkling bathroom!

All natural stainless steel cleaner

Olive oil. That’s it. That’s all you need for clean and shiny stainless steel, whether its a stove top or a pan. Give it a try today!

Ok, so this is a bonus tip. Open some windows. Let natural, fresh air into your home to kept clean and facilitate a natural air exchange every day. Just five minutes is all you need.
