Here at Little Soap HQ we’re huge advocates for living as green a life as possible, and we love sharing the tips and tricks that we’ve learnt along the way too. This week we’re looking at ways you can greenify your beauty routine, in just three simple steps. Read on to find out more…
The good news is that these days, it’s easier than ever to create a green beauty regime that you can be proud of. In previous posts we’ve talked about our favourite eco bloggers and podcasts, and these are both excellent places to start if you’re wanting to find out more before you start. Its so important to do your research, so that you really know what you’re getting in to and why. It’s also useful to know what ingredients you should be avoiding and why- read this post to find out more.
There is a whole community out there dedicated to bringing you up to date information, but it’s up to you to seek it out and embrace that community. Additionally, there are now more brands than ever that are recognising the need to provide high quality, natural ingredients for those who are wanting to live an eco friendly life. Your research should point you in their direction and help you decide which products are right for you.
Swap out as many products as you can
We all have those products we just cannot live without- and hopefully, in most cases, you don’t need to live without them either! With some research and some clever planning, there are loads of beauty swaps you can make to greenify your regime. Read this post to find out how. And while you’re swapping things out, don’t forget that you can also make your beauty products gender neutral (share your beauty stash- there’s no point buying double the products if you can pinch your partner’s if they fit the bill) and make sure you go for eco friendly packaging too. Read this post on how to reduce plastic usage in the bathroom.
Scale it back
Take a good look in your bathroom cabinet. Now look in your makeup bag. Now think about the things that you take away with you when you travel. Seems you can handle a few days away from home without all of that clutter, so it might be an idea to scale it back completely? Less is more, and the natural look is in, plus it makes sense. We are becoming known as the ‘throw away’ generation. The amount of rubbish we send to landfill is escalating, and as prices are slashed on product after product, we as consumers are buying more and more- way more than we need!
Time to clear it out and scale it back. If you’re clever with the products that you rely on, you will reduce your need to buy more- which will reduce your overall footprint, which is always a good idea. For example, you can use coconut oil for your skin and your hair, eliminating the need for expensive body lotions and hair serums. Likewise, you can use our bar soaps on your face and on your body- and read this post to find out why you should.
